CastPilot is the autonomous podcast operations agent operated by the CastPilot team. These terms cover what's expected of you when you use the service, who owns the clips and show notes we generate, the boundaries of acceptable use, and where the limits of our liability sit. Account-holder responsibilities
By creating an account or using CastPilot, you agree to the following. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
Rights to the audio. You must only upload audio that you own or have explicit permission to process. If you upload a podcast you're not authorised to handle — including audio belonging to a third party without their consent — that's a violation of these terms and may also be a violation of someone else's rights.
Account credentials. You must keep your login credentials secure. You're responsible for activity that happens under your account, so don't share them and let us know promptly if you suspect they're compromised.
Compliance with the law. You must use CastPilot in compliance with the laws and regulations that apply to you — including copyright law, defamation law, marketing and disclosure rules, and the terms of any platform you publish to.
Paying for what you choose. If you select a paid tier (Solo or Studio), you agree to pay the fees associated with that tier for as long as you keep the subscription active. You can cancel at any time; we don't do annual lock-ins.
Content ownership
The question we get asked most: "if CastPilot generates a clip from my episode, who owns it?" Short answer — you do.
Uploaded audio stays yours. The podcast audio you upload to CastPilot remains your intellectual property (or that of whoever owns the show). We don't claim any ownership of it.
Generated artifacts are yours too. The transcripts, show notes, short-form clips, social-post copy, and weekly digest emails that CastPilot generates from your audio are yours. You can publish them, edit them, license them, or take them elsewhere — including off CastPilot.
We retain a license to process them — only to operate the service. By uploading audio and using the pipeline, you grant CastPilot a limited, non-exclusive license to process that audio and the resulting artifacts solely to deliver the service to you (transcribing, generating clips, sending digest emails, etc.). That license ends when you delete the project or close your account.
We claim no ownership of the underlying podcast IP. CastPilot doesn't own your show, your guests' likeness, your brand, or anything you put into the pipeline. We're a tool you're using; we're not a publisher.
Plain English: you own what you upload and what we generate. We only use it to run the service for you. Take it with you whenever you want.
Prohibited uses of the AI pipeline
The AI pipeline in CastPilot is a content-generation tool. Like any such tool, it can be misused. The following uses are not permitted, and we'll suspend or terminate accounts that engage in them.
No spam
Mass-produced, low-quality content designed to manipulate rankings or inboxes rather than inform a real audience.
Fake or disposable accounts created to amplify your own reach (sockpuppets, list-bombing, coordinated posting from shell accounts).
Generated clips or social posts used primarily to drive affiliate clicks or ad impressions rather than genuinely represent the source episode.
No misinformation
Fabricated quotes attributed to real people who didn't say them.
Fabricated guests or interviews — using a real person's name, voice, or likeness to imply endorsement they never gave.
Deepfakes, voice clones, or synthetic media of real people presented as authentic.
No unauthorized republishing
Clipping or redistributing audio from podcasts you don't own or have rights to.
Republishing the same generated content across many accounts or domains in a manner designed to evade platform quality rules.
No illegal content
Content that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark, or publicity rights.
Content that is unlawful in the jurisdiction you operate from or publish into (harassment, hate speech, sexual content involving minors, etc.).
No abuse of the pipeline itself
Attempts to circumvent usage limits, rate caps, or pricing tiers you've selected.
Reverse-engineering, scraping, or otherwise attempting to extract the underlying model, prompts, or pipeline architecture.
The four hard bans, summarized: no spam, no misinformation, no unauthorized republishing, no illegal content. If you can describe what you'd generate with CastPilot in one sentence to a journalist and not be embarrassed, you're fine.
Limitation of liability
The service is provided on an "as is" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
No warranties. CastPilot is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and accuracy of the AI-generated outputs.
Total liability cap. CastPilot's total aggregate liability to you for any and all claims arising out of or relating to the service is capped at the greater of (a) the fees you paid to CastPilot in the trailing 12 months, or (b) US$100 if you've used only the free tier.
No indirect damages. CastPilot is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost profits, lost revenue, lost goodwill, or business interruption — even if we've been advised of the possibility of such damages.
AI outputs are not guaranteed accurate. AI-generated transcripts, show notes, clips, and social posts may contain errors. You're responsible for reviewing what CastPilot produces before publishing it, and CastPilot is not liable for the accuracy of those outputs.
Your indemnification of CastPilot. You agree to indemnify and hold CastPilot harmless from any third-party claim arising out of materials you upload, content you generate using the pipeline, or content you publish using artifacts produced by CastPilot.
The cap, in one line: we make no warranty, our total liability is capped at fees paid in the last 12 months (or $100 on free), and you indemnify us for what you choose to publish. Use the service thoughtfully.
